Rod Stewart walks past a breakfast cafe in a £ 290,000 Lamborghini as he drives for the first time since knee surgery

He was forced to undergo knee replacement almost two years ago, after injuring himself while playing soccer.

And seen driving for the first time since the operation in January 2020, Rod Stewart, 76, was seen swinging at a local Essex cafe for breakfast in a lavish supercar.

Earlier this month, Rod drove in his luxury white Lamborghini, priced at a cool £ 290,000, as he met his wife Penny Lancaster, 50, for an early breakfast.

Maggie May’s hit-maker undoubtedly caused a stir when he rode to the cafe in his expensive 770 horsepower race.

The Aventador SVJ Lamborghini was seen parked outside the breakfast venue, Rod climbing into the flashy vehicle as he made a stylish outing.

Over the years Rod has amassed an impressive collection of cars, spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a number of premium vehicles.

He previously claimed he remembered every car he had owned, with his collection including several Lamborghinis over the years, as well as a 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera, a Ferrari Enzo, which he purchased in 2003, and a Rolls Royce.

Rod’s latest vehicle, a sleek black-and-white Aventador SVJ, launched in 2019 as part of an exclusive Lamborghini collection, with just 900 of the model being made.

It is considered one of the most extreme models, thanks to its “super fast-track” design specially adapted to track speed.

A penchant for fast cars, it’s no surprise that Rod made sure to take one of the models for himself and he looked rather happy to be seated behind the wheel again.

Casually dressed in a striped tracksuit bottom, a white t-shirt and a matching sports jacket, the singer was seen returning to his vehicle after his breakfast at the cafe and walking away from the managed restaurant locally.

It was Rod’s first time driving since undergoing knee and ankle surgery.

At the end of 2019, Rod underwent ankle fusion surgery, costing £ 8,000, before being forced to undergo a full knee replacement in January 2020, after injuring himself while playing football.

After the operation, Rod’s wife Penny revealed the rocker was discharged from hospital in time to celebrate his 75th birthday.

At the time, she shared a snap of Rod in a gown as she briefed fans on his progress and shared, “Roddy is doing remarkably well after his knee replacement on Tuesday (so the bad boy continues trying to walk without crutches).

“Luckily he’s released today to turn 75 tonight and at home this weekend to see the boys play soccer.”

The operation came after Rod revealed that his knee had “raced” after years of playing football.

The Celtic fan – who previously said he’s only good for two things; music and football – told BBC Radio 2: ‘It has come from football over the years, but it will be fine. I will be fine.’

Rod has previously spoken about injuring his knee during sports and recently told the Daily Record: “I’m very careful now. I don’t steal them straight. I throw them in the air so people can see them coming down.

“I don’t play football now because my right knee has raced. So more competitive football for me because I can’t go sideways on my knees.

In the midst of his recovery from last year’s surgery, Rod was seen on crutches while interviewing his wife Penny on ITV’s Lorraine.

He then told the Scottish Sun: “My football days are over. I have a serious ankle injury that I suffered because my 15 year old son ditched me. I can still kick a ball when needed.

Rod married his wife Penny in 2007 and the couple share sons Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10.

The artist is also the father of six other children; sons Sean, 41, and Liam, 27, and daughters Kimberly, 42, Ruby, 34, Renee, 29 and Sarah Streeter, 57.
