A fast food restaurant described as “Asia’s KFC” is set to open in Nottingham.
Up to 70 jobs could be created under plans for the Clumber Street restaurant.
Bee World UK Ltd, part of the Jollibee Foods Corporation, has filed an opening offer in the city.
Filipino fast food chain Jollibee is best known for its fried chicken Chickenjoy, which is described as “crisp” and “juicy.”
With over 1,000 restaurants nationwide, Jollibee is described as the ‘Asian KFC’.
It is particularly successful in Vietnam and China and the chain opened in London in 2018.
The company also opened in Leicester in November.
A town planning statement, submitted to city council, said: “We are looking to establish a formal building permit for the use of the restaurant in order to establish certainty and thereby invest in property and staff for the long term.
“It will be a significant investment in the city center and around 70 jobs will be created at a time when the main street suffers and traditional main street jobs are lost.”
The restaurant is intended for vacant 46-48 Clumber Street, on the corner with Parliament Street, which was to be a Metro Bank.
The building should be occupied by the restaurant by April or May.
